One day when I can spare the cash, I’m definitely going to invest in a sweet golf setup like this. For now however, I’m just going to keep playing cheap golf here in Utah.

They ran the equivalent of two marathons a day for 111 days to become the first modern runners to cross the Sahara Desert’s grueling 4,000 miles…

Zahab was smart enough to ask the crucial question, but he obviously came up with the wrong answer.

Zahab described stopping one recent day for a bathroom break only to discover the wind was blowing so harshly that he couldn’t keep the sand out of his clothes. “And I thought to myself, ‘What the hell am I doing?”‘ he said. But Zahab kept going, as did the other two, never skipping a day. Most days the three ran a total of 44 to 50 miles.

Ok, I’m not sure how sales of Tostitos fared after the game, but I have to add my two cents that this year’s Fiesta Bowl is the greatest game I’ve ever witnessed, if not the greatest ever. After Oklahoma’s pick-6 with a minute left to go, I gave up hope. Then the amazing hook and ladder on fourth and 18 to tie the game with seven seconds left brought a ray of hope back into my life. Adrian Petersen tried to squash that hope in OT, but a brave coach, armed with Lady Liberty, elevated that hope into extreme elation. Go Broncos!

This was an important victory for all the mid-major schools. I can’t express strongly enough my wish for a playoff rather than the stupid BCS system that gets it wrong every year.

I went down to Las Vegas to see my first bowl game and it was an experience! We decked out in BYU blue, made signs (mine was a BYU haiku that was torn up by my friends) and lost our voices cheering on BYU. To anyone that hasn’t attended a bowl game, I highly recommend it.

BYU is back on their way to football glory. With their first bowl win since 1996, Bronco Mendenhall has brought this team to a place they haven’t been since Lavelle Edwards retired. The ever famous Quarterback Factory has produced another gem in John Beck (left), who is second only to Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer in career passing yards. That’s ahead of all-time greats such as Jim McMahon and Steve Young.

The even bigger player coming out of the program is senior tight-end Jonny Harline (right). He’s had game-changing performances in many Cougar games this year, none bigger than the winning touchdown reception over Utah after time had expired. With tight-ends playing a bigger role in the NFL, his size and skill should prove a potent package.
